Phytomem One Side Effects: What to Expect and Who Should Avoid It

Most healthy adults will notice little or nothing from Phytomem One. The real risks are interactions: four ingredients lower blood sugar, one thins the blood a little, and berberine changes how the liver handles some prescriptions.

The short answer

Phytomem One is not a high-risk supplement for a healthy adult who takes no medication. The ingredient most likely to cause a side effect you'll actually feel is berberine, and the usual complaint is an upset stomach.

The people who should be careful are those already on prescriptions, especially for diabetes, blood clots or blood pressure. That is a big group among the 50-plus readers this product is marketed to, which is why this page exists.

One limit to keep in mind: the company does not publish the dose of each ingredient. Everything below is based on what each ingredient does at the doses that have been studied. A small dose inside a 10-ingredient tablet may do less, good and bad.

Common side effects

These are the ones people actually report with these ingredients:

  • Stomach upset, cramping, constipation or loose stools, mostly from berberine. In a diabetes trial using 500 mg three times a day, about a third of people had stomach complaints, and most of them passed within a few weeks (Yin, 2008). Taking the tablet with a meal, as the label says, helps.
  • Gas or a loose stomach from xylitol. Sugar alcohols do this in large amounts. The amount in one tablet is likely too small to matter.
  • Feeling shaky, sweaty or lightheaded. That can be low blood sugar, and it is mainly a risk if you also take diabetes medication (see below).

Headaches, sleep changes and jitters are unlikely. There are no stimulants in the formula.

If something feels off, stop taking it. You can still return the bottles within 60 days of delivery for a refund.

Drug interactions

This is the part that matters most. If you take any of the medications in this table, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you start Phytomem One. Bring the bottle, or a photo of the label, so they can see the full list.

Metformin, insulin, glipizide or other diabetes medicationBerberine, Ceylon cinnamon, corosolic acid (banaba), olive leafAll four lower blood sugar. Stacked on a diabetes drug, blood sugar can drop too low.

The berberine row deserves a second look. Berberine affects several of the liver enzymes that process common prescriptions, which is reviewed in detail in a 2025 review of berberine and cytochrome P450. The NCCIH goldenseal page (goldenseal is a natural source of berberine) gives a plainer summary.

Who should not take Phytomem One

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women. Berberine can cross the placenta and pass into breast milk, and it has been linked to a dangerous form of jaundice in newborns.
  • Children. It is sold for adults, and none of the research involves children.
  • Anyone having surgery soon. Stop at least two weeks before, because of the blood sugar and blood-thinning effects. Tell your surgeon you were taking it.
  • People with serious liver or kidney disease. Not because of a known problem with these ingredients, but because these organs clear supplements and drugs, and nobody has studied this formula in that group.
  • Anyone with a seaweed allergy. Two ingredients come from brown seaweed.

Xylitol: two things to know

Xylitol is the last of the ten ingredients and the least important to the formula, but it comes with two warnings.

The first is about dogs. Xylitol is poisonous to dogs even in small amounts, and it can cause a dangerous drop in their blood sugar and liver failure. The FDA has a consumer warning on this. A dog that chews into a supplement bottle can swallow a lot of tablets at once, so store the bottle out of reach.

The second is about the heart. A 2024 Cleveland Clinic study found that people with the highest xylitol levels in their blood had more heart attacks and strokes over three years than those with the lowest. In a follow-up experiment, a xylitol-sweetened drink made volunteers' platelets more likely to clot (Witkowski, 2024). That drink held far more xylitol than one tablet could, and the study shows a link, not proof of harm. If you have heart disease or a history of clots, it is one more reason to run this by your doctor.

How to start it safely

If you have decided to try it and you take no regular medication:

  1. Take one tablet with your biggest meal of the day.
  2. Give it a week. If your stomach is unsettled, keep taking it with food; mild stomach upset from berberine usually settles.
  3. Write down any changes, good or bad, so you can judge it honestly before the 60-day refund window closes.

If you do take regular medication, the safer route is to show the label to your pharmacist first. It takes five minutes, and they can check it against your full medication list. The NCCIH guide to using dietary supplements wisely has good questions to ask.

If you have a reaction

Stop taking it. For anything serious, such as signs of very low blood sugar, unusual bleeding or bruising, or an allergic reaction, get medical help.

You can report a side effect from any supplement to the FDA, which tracks these reports. Then contact the company at support@phytomemone.com to start a return. The steps are on the Phytomem One price and refund page.

Side effect questions

Does Phytomem One cause weight loss?

Two ingredients, Morosil and kudzu flower, have been studied for weight and belly fat, with modest results. Phytomem One is not sold as a weight-loss product, and any effect at its doses is unknown.

Can Phytomem One raise blood pressure?

Nothing in the formula is known to raise blood pressure. Olive leaf, if anything, may lower it slightly.

Can I take Phytomem One with alcohol?

Moderate drinking is unlikely to interact with the ingredients. Heavy drinking plus berberine and other blood sugar ingredients can make low blood sugar more likely, especially on an empty stomach.

Is Phytomem One safe long term?

Nobody knows for the finished product, because it has not been studied. The individual ingredients have been used for months in trials without serious problems, but those trials rarely ran longer than six months.

Can I take it with other memory supplements?

Check for overlap first. Many memory and blood sugar supplements also contain berberine, cinnamon or saffron, and doubling up raises the dose without you noticing.
